Hi fellow Meejas,

I am looking to set up a social evening for the over thirties in the Tunbridge Wells area. As a Sevenoaks dweller I rarely visit the Wells and would therefore like some feedback on venues that may be suitable.

The basic requirements are:

Easy to get to and park nearby.
Friendly location.
Capacity 100 with possible expansion to 300.
Either bar style venue or hotel.

I like the "feel" of the Pilcher and Piano, but this one is booked out.

Any ideas?

Would anyone who is going to admit to being over thirty like to join in a discussion forum at a suitable venue? If so contact me, Lee at leepegrum@gmail.com

Thanks

Lee

Hi Carolyn,

Woods looks wonderful. I can't wait to check out all these venues and get started. See you tonight and thank you.

Hello Lee. How about Woods' on Pantiles for your event? Would need a bit of themeing, but a pretty and atmospheric room.Parking at Union House, I think.....hope to meet you at this evening's event. Caro.

@ Jez - Thanks I will check out the Brew House and don my platforms for the Spa champagne bar trial as I can feel a themed night maybe in order!

I think a forum discussion will help to find out if people are prepared to travel

@Justin, The Wells looks rather smart, at least on their website, but the capacity is just 120.

Any other ideas?

Visiting the venues this week to check them out.

Thanks for your help so far.

I use it for my other networking group - http://www.westkentnetworking.co.uk - tis a good venue :) The nearest car park is the paid for one, just on Major Yorks road, 3 mins walk away via the Pantiles - 3 quid all day (and is open at night).

I went to the 'champagne bar' at the Spa and walked back out - something out of a 70's 'special' film!

The Barn is still going - I do not think it would cope with your numbers though.

Another one, with a TON of free parking and space for such an event, would be the High Rocks... People would have to drive though due to it being out of the town or get cabs.

And yes, sounds like a good event - count me in :)

Thanks Jez.

I have seen some of your members use The Brew House, it looks ideal. Is the multistory car park 24 hour?

I have been to events at The Spa and its on my list, so good to hear that others recommend it. Anyone know what the cocktail bar is like? I might have to take a visit!

What happened to the Elizabethian Barn? I used to go there xx years ago!

The Ramada at Pembury is also a possibility. Any views on that one?

Anyone up for a forum get together to discuss what over thirties really want from life? Besides success, fame, a comfortable job, fitness and health!

How about the Royal Wells?

Lee - the Brew House has been suggested but for those numbers, parking would be a problem. The best bet probably would be the Spa Hotel.

Lee,

Just asked the lovely local Twitter people of Tunbridge Wells - they are bound to know/suggest something. It is quite an ask - the parking is always the issue in T Wells normally...
