Web Design Barter
Hi Hubbers,
I am looking to branch out on my own at some point in the distant future, but being a shy timid type I want to make the transition from desk jockey at BSkyB a gradual one. I am therefore looking for some help/advice building a website to showcase my work. I know there are 'off the peg' sites to be had but I need something a bit more sophisticated and creative. Being art rich and cash poor I am looking to barter my skills.
I don't imagine anyone wants any television sets designed (though that would be great) but how about Visuals, 3d mockups, CAD drawings, photoshop skills?
Uploaded into my photos, a visual of a desk lamp created in Cinema4D and a small studio set also created in Cinema4d and Photoshop to give you an idea of the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Hi Jonathan, I've got a couple of other projects on the go at the moment so I probably wouldn't be able to start until the new year but I saw that you had no other offers.
I'm not a flash user myself but I was going to suggest using Lightbox 2.0 for the image gallery. If you've purchased the flash thing then maybe we can have a look at it and see how customizable it is. I won't be there tomorrow unfortunately but maybe we could get together in a couple of weeks time and progress it?

Hi Nick, Thanks for the reply, no particular rush though things are fairly quiet at work at the moment so I'm trying to gather stuff together. Content will be mainly images with some movie clips. I've got as far as registering a domain and on the recommendation of a colleague I've purchased a ready made media gallery (flash nifties) that apparently is easy to customise.... being a complete novice when it comes to web design packages I'll believe it when I see it :)
Are you going to the gathering tomorrow? If so we could hook up and have a chat.

What's your timescale on getting this sorted? What did you have in mind with regards to the site content? I'd be interested in doing this for you, though I don't currently have the need for a reciprocal service.
